Dubai Attractions: The Sensational Sea Lion Experience

Did you know that Dubai is now home to a troupe of exotic sea lions? If you're travelling to the UAE and are looking for Dubai attractions that are slightly out of the ordinary, you'll find there's little better than going face to face with these funny, slippery sea animals.

You can meet, kiss and cuddle the playful, inquisitive cute creatures, also known as fur seals, and watch them perform in skits, dance moves and tricks under supervision of sea-life specialists. What's more, you'll even be able to wade into the water and hug, kiss and cuddle them too.

Where can I meet sea lions in Dubai?
The team of South African sea lions, which are normally found around South Africa and Angola, are the newest addition to the sea life team at Atlantis, The Palm Resort on Dubai's Palm Island. The sea lions are situated in Dolphin Cay, near to other marine animals such as dolphins and stingrays.

As well as meeting the sea lions, you'll also get an exclusive behind-the-scenes peek at how the animals are fed and looked after.

How much does it cost to meet the sea lions?

It costs DH425 for a day visitor to enjoy a 10 minute session with the sea lions at Atlantis (just under £70) or DH275 (£45) for in-house guests at the resort. After meeting the sea lions you'll also receive a free souvenir photo of your kiss and cuddle experience as well as free access to the rest of Atlantis' Aquaventure Waterpark and 25% off access to the Lost Cambers Aquarium.

Anyone over the age of 6 is allowed to meet the Dubai sea lions, although children between the ages of 6 and 12 will have to be accompanied by a paying adult. But beware – you should book early! Sessions with the sea lions only happen twice a day, at 11.15AM and 3.15PM, and are limited to a maximum of 10 people.

Is it safe to meet the sea lions?

It's absolutely safe. The sea lions are looked after by a team of marine experts and during your session you'll learn all about the newest members of the family at Atlantis – including how to interact with them and read their body language. You'll also find out all about the 15 different species of sea lions that are found around the world.
