Designer Dubai: Shopping at its Best!

Drool over Prada, Dolce & Gabbana and let’s not forget Escada in the shopping capital of the Middle East for a girl’s weekend away with style.

Dubai is the shopping capital of the Middle East and is the perfect location for you to visit with your girlfriends for a girl’s week away. From Emilio Pucci to Forever 21 there is something for everyone and any budget so read on to learn more about this shopping paradise.

Shops in Dubai

Whether you are looking to splash the cash, bag a bargain or simply do some window shopping, Dubai is a shopper’s paradise. Dubai has more than 70 shopping centres, the biggest and best being Dubai Mall.

If you are looking for something more traditional then head to one of the many souks in the districts which line either side of the stream. Near to the docks, this is where cargo from the nearby ships would have been bargained over and even today is a location where you, if you are a little cheeky, may get yourself a bargain. Bargaining is part of the fun of shopping in Dubai.

If a shopping mall or souk isn’t your thing then not to worry – there are plenty of top-class boutiques and department stores in the city. Be aware however that shopping times are staggered here. Most shops here will open at either 9am or 10am and then shut at 1pm for prayer time before reopening at 4pm till late (about 10pm). The malls however are usually open all day.

What to Buy Here

Thanks to low import duties and no taxation you are likely to find the same high quality designer goods here as at home but for considerably less money. For the largest choice of designer goods head to the Dubai Mall. We love the dresses in the Oscar de la Renta store and of course the Herve Leger scarves.

If you are interested in buying gold jewellery then this is the perfect place to be. Dubai is also called ‘the City of Gold’ thanks to its Gold Souk in Deira which holds nearly 250 gold retail shops. There is plenty of designs to choose from so go on, treat yourself!
